Measure Instruction
How to Measure Your Window
Step 1: Decide on Mount Type
- RECESS: The shade fits inside the window frame. Gives a clean, built-in look.
- EXACT: The shade is installed on the wall or frame, covering the entire window area. Ideal for small windows, hiding imperfections, or blocking more light.
Inside Mount Instructions

Tools You’ll Need: Steel tape measure, step stool, and a notepad.
How to Measure:
1. Width: Measure inside the window recess at:
- Top
- Middle
-
Bottom
Record the narrowest measurement (in millimeters accuracy) to ensure the shade fits.
2. Height: Measure inside the recess on:
- Left side
- Center
-
Right side
Record the tallest measurement.
3. Depth: Measure the depth of your frame to ensure it meets the minimum depth requirement for your shade type.
Pro Tip: Do not make any deductions yourself — we will adjust for the perfect fit.
Outside Mount Instructions

Tools You’ll Need: Steel tape measure, step stool, and a notepad.
How to Measure:
1. Width: Measure the width of the window plus any desired overlap.
- We recommend at least 50–75 mm on each side to block light effectively.
2. Height: Measure from the top of where you want the shade to start to the bottom of where you want it to end.
- For best coverage, extend 50–75 mm above the frame and at least to the sill or floor.
Pro Tip: Larger overlaps block more light and help insulate better.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Using a cloth tape measure (can stretch and give wrong sizes)
- Rounding measurements — always record to the nearest mm for metric
- Switching width and height accidentally
- Not checking for obstructions like window cranks, handles, or trim
